This Instant Pot Veggie Macaroni and Beef is super simple, family loved recipe.
While this recipe is sort of similar to the broccoli mac n cheese, and by similar I mean its pasta and it cooks in the instant pot, and comes together super quickly it does have a little more ingredients.
But don’t worry, while the ingredient list may seem long, this beef macaroni is still a meal that’ll only take maybe 15 minutes to throw together while the instant pot does the rest of the work.
This veggie macaroni is a recipe that I grew up on! Ok, well the bones of this recipe is one that I grew up on. My mom made it much different, with different ingredients, but my recipe still uses the basics.
Actually, this easy macaroni beef is probably one of the first dinners I made!
So yes, Mama, it really is an easy recipe!
How to make Instant pot Veggie Beef Macaroni in 5 easy steps
1.Turn your instant pot to sauté, drop in your ground beef and chopped onions and then add seasonings.
ALWAYS add your seasoning to raw hamburger, this will pull the flavors through the entire dish!
Saute until ground beef is cooked through.
2. Dump in your frozen mixed veggies, Add the water and use a flat-bottomed wooden spoon to scrape the bottom of the pan until it’s clean. (this will help prevent the burn message)
3. Add the macaroni and then the tomato sauce. Don’t stir! Close and lock the lid, making sure the pressure valve is locked. Use the manual cook option on high pressure and cook time for 3 minutes.
4. Once the macaroni is cooked, let it naturally release for 5 minutes then quick release the remaining pressure.
5. Stir in ½ of the cheese, and top with remaining cheese and let melt. The cheese is completely optional. Once the cheese is melted serve those hungry kids!

You can still make this!
How to cook frozen hamburger in the instant pot.
We all have those days when we don’t have meat defrosted right? I know mine never is! But just like frozen chicken, you can put frozen hamburger in too! This is how you cook frozen hamburger in the instant pot:
1.Place the trivet in your instant pot, add 1 cup water and pop your frozen hamburger on top of the trivet.
2.Close the lid, make sure your pressure valve is locked, and then set the manual cook option on high, and set cook time to 7 minutes.
3.Once the cooking time is over, let it naturally lose pressure. If you don’t have the time to wait the full 10 minutes, wait at least 5 before using the quick release
4.Drain the water out and remove the trivet. You can break up your hamburger and use it in any recipe!
5.This cook time will only partially cook the hamburger. Only the outside will actually be cooked. But using this crazy handy tool it’ll be really easy to break up the ground beef.
The entire process of defrosting the hamburger takes about 15-20 minutes. In my instant pot for it to come to pressure, cook and do at least 5 min of natural depressurizing.
So even if your meat is frozen, you can still have a home-cooked dinner tonight!
