Some days you want to give them a healthy snack, but yet you don’t have the time or the energy to go make one right?
Believe me, Mama, I know! Boy, there are days when my kids are living off hot dogs and fruit loops, but then I start to feel bad because I like cooking! (I mean that’s why I have a food blog right?) I’m supposed to always have all kinds of healthy snacks available for my kids!
Every time I feel myself slipping into this funk, where I tend to cook not so healthy things. Ones that actually take just as much time as it does for me to make something that doesn’t come out of a box, I go to some of my super simple recipes, like this healthy yogurt snack! This only has a total of 2 ingredients, which essentially you can even cut down to one.
One food I know that will always be a hit with my kids is yogurt. They all love yogurt! So if I can find a way to make a healthy yogurt snack for my kids then I’m winning both ways. Not only will it be healthier than just having yogurt, but I also know that they will eat it!
So as much of a recipe this is… shall we get onto the step by step tutorial for it?
How to Make a Simple 2 Ingredient Yogurt Snack
Before I go any further, I should probably tell you that this will actually turn into a popsicle! This is absolutely PERFECT for the hot summer days we are having. And who doesn’t love a good popsicle right? Especially one that doesn’t melt super-fast and make your kids all dirty!
If you don’t have a popsicle mold already, I promise you that they are pretty cheap to buy here! Very worth it, considering how much money a simple box of popsicles cost and that this ‘homemade’ version of it, never mind it being much healthier is also cheaper! So now the actual recipe…
In a food processor, add 2 cups sliced frozen strawberries. I always buy these at Costco, not only is it cheaper to buy the fruit frozen, but it also has more of the nutrients in it because they are picked ripe. And we don’t even have to mention the convenience of them already being sliced.
Have I mentioned how much I love my food processor?? It’s my second most used large kitchen appliance! Actually, my second most used appliance. I use my stand kitchen aid mixer on a daily basis, but my food processor gets pulled out 1-2 times a week minimum! It saves a ton of time for me! While I did have a cheap one to start, it didn’t last me long because I used it so much! I know have a Cuisinart, and while it’s a bit more, it’s still super affordable!
If you have whole frozen strawberries than don’t go waste the time slicing them, just defrost them slightly. You don’t want them completely defrosted, just not rock solid anymore. If I only have whole frozen strawberries, I’ll pop them in the microwave, and on the defrost setting have them in there for about 2-3 minutes.
Put your strawberries in the food processor and turn it on medium speed and whiz for about 1 minute. Then add 1 cup yogurt and whiz again for another minute. You can use full fat yogurt, or greek yogurt. Feel free to use fruit yogurt as well if thats all you have on hand.
Now scoop out the ‘ice cream’ and spoon it into your popsicle molds. If you don’t have a popsicle mold, you can just scoop it all into a container that can go in the freezer. Then freeze for 2 hours and then enjoy!
If the popsicles don’t just slide out of the mold, run the mold under hot water for a minute or two to loosen it up. Just hold the mold upside down and let the hot water run over the molds.
And there you have it! A super easy yogurt snack for the kids! And for you Mama, because these things are delicious!
If you don’t have strawberries this can also be done with other fruit! Or just put yogurt into the molds, I’ve done that plenty of times too!

- 2 cups frozen sliced strawberries
- 1 cup yogurt
In a food processor, whiz the strawberries for 1 minute on high, add yogurt and whiz 2 more minutes.
Spoon into popsicle molds. Freeze for 2 hours before serving.
If the popsicles are 'stuck' in the molds then run the molds under hot water for a minute to loosen.
